KINDERGARTEN READINESS/SCHOOL CONSULTATION

Kindergarten readiness is a construct that has evolved over the years.  At one time, if your child met the age cut off, then they were ready.  Educators are taking a broader, more comprehensive look at what it means to be ready.

Dr. Gottlieb offers assessments of Kindergarten readiness with a particular focus on an assessment of a child’s learning style.  This assessment looks at potential across the domains of learning (visual, spatial and reasoning skills,) as well as executive functioning skills and social-emotional development.  Readiness skills in the areas of reading, writing and math are also measured.

The evaluation includes a parent consultation, child testing, followed by a parent discussion of findings with a focus on optimal school setting and the generation of a list of schools suited for the child.  This may include public, charter, magnet or independent schools.

Families are also welcome to schedule a parent consultation to discuss these topics, more generally, without a direct child assessment.
